Have you bought a new Netgear wireless router? If yes, now it is time to remove it from the box. The next step is connecting your new Netgear router to the Internet, plug it in and then start using it for the purpose for which you bought it. There is one more thing you need to do, changing the settings which are recommended for a secure wireless network. Accessing the router’s settings is easy. You simply need an Internet browser in order to access the settings option. Once you have accessed the router’s settings, you can make changes according to your needs.
Access Router Settings
- First of all one end of an Ethernet cable is to be inserted into one of the ports labeled 1 through 4. These ports can be found on the backside of your router. The other end of the cable is to be inserted into the port on your PC or laptop.
- The next step is to open your Internet browser and enter any one of the following URLs into the address bar of your browser and hit the “Enter” button.
- You will see two text fields on the page, username and password. You will enter “admin” in the username field and “password” in the password field (if this is your first time setting up the router otherwise). Finally, click “Ok” in order to have access to the router’s settings.
Setting your router to the factory settings is the only option you have if you don’t remember the username and password you assigned to your Netgear router.
